HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES FROM THE CLASS OF 1960
DAVID C. BECKWITH – 1960 (Inducted 1993) Journalist and lawyer, he was a correspondent and legal editor of Time Magazine and founding editor of The Legal Times. Beckwith was press secretary for Vice President Dan Quayle and campaign manager for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas. He is a political consultant and a board member of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.
Professor of Maritime History at the U.S. Naval War College and director of the Munson Institute of American Maritime Studies in Connecticut. He has more than two dozen books to his credit and is editor-in-chief of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Maritime History. He has been a visiting professor and lecturer around the world.
A researcher at Sandia National Laboratories, he specializes in nuclear reactor waste and its impact on the safety of the U.S., including heavy armor and artillery and the threat to and the pre-launch survivability of assets. He has also served as the science and technology advisor for Conventional Arms Control in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
JOSEPH KINNEBREW – 1960 (Inducted 1997) A sculptor and surreal painter, his work appears internationally in private and corporate collections, as well as major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution. He received the Michigan Governor’s Award for sculpture and was the recipient of the largest individual artist grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
